Topics include Iowa’s 60th U.S. Colored Troops from the Civil War, the Buffalo Soldiers, women in the military, World War I training camps in Iowa, and the Tuskegee Airmen.

Staff members from the African American Museum of Iowa will be on hand to display videos and posters about the history of black Iowans, including information about civil rights movements past and present.

Presentations will begin at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Proctor and Gamble Room.

The Texas Institute for the Preservation of History and Culture created these videos about Juneteenth, called “A Celebration of Freedom”
